Conservation Efforts

When you see these symbols,
you know that the wood is
from a sustainable forest
There are many conservation efforts going on to try to save the black and white ruffed lemur. Sadly, there is room for so much more support if this endangered species is to survive.

Ways They Are Being Helped
There are some ways that these creatures are already being helped. They are found in many national parks such as the Manaharana National Park, Zahamena National Park, and the Mantadia National Park. The black and white lemurs are the subject of captive breeding efforts and there are many more actions trying to help them survive. Unfortunately, national parks do not cover the entire island of Madagascar, captive breeding can only go so far, and  so much more has to be done to save the black and white lemur.

How YOU Can Help Them
There are many ways an ordinary person can help save these lemurs. The best way to do it is to educate people about the black and white lemurs by sharing this website, telling them ways they can help, and informing them about this dying species. Other ways you can do this is by buying wood that is sustainably harvested, coffee that is shade grown, and produce that is locally grown. These products do not require the lemurs' homes to be destructed.
